Yarn
All wool is yarn but not all yarn is wool. Yarn can be manufactured from a huge range of fibres – both natural and synthetic. Natural yarn content includes wool, cotton, bamboo, linen, alpaca, cashmere, silk, angora and many more. Synthetic fibres are human-made and are composed of acrylic filaments. There are many reasons to use both types of yarn and in the end, it is a personal choice. Yarn also comes in a variety of forms – lace weight, 3 ply, 4 ply or fingering, 5 ply or sport, 8 ply or DK, 10 ply, Aran, Chunky to name a few. Whatever your preference for fibre, Wool n Yarn aims to provide excellent quality yarns for everyone.

Crafting with yarn:
Whether your preference for yarn is either for natural fibres or human-made acrylic, Wool n Yarn aims to give you a choice from a curated menu of yarns, sourced for their finest features. This enables you to create garments, accessories and homewares with a range of colours, textures and features which you will enjoy in your life yourself or gift to fortunate family members and friends as much as you enjoy the process of working with the yarns themselves.
The range of content of the yarns includes wool (merino and superwash wool), cotton, bamboo, silk, alpaca, linen, cashmere, silk angora, to name a few. The touch and finish of the natural fibres provides a breathable garment or accessory which the wearer will truly appreciate. Acrylic yarns have their place and purpose, especially if the crafter or wearer has an allergy to woollen yarns and the quality of the acrylic yarns in our selection provides excellent colour range, stitch definition, texture and sheen for your projects.
Both crochet and knitting crafts have been considered when choosing the finely curated yarns in stock at Wool n Yarn. Each of the crafts can have different yarn requirements so we have endeavoured to provide as comprehensive a selection of yarns as possible from the myriad of yarns now available. High quality yarns do not necessarily have to come with a matching price tag so do not be deceived by this feature in our range. If you have any questions on the yarns or would like some help in choosing colours or the best yarn for a project, you can always contact us directly to discuss this.
